The Minister for Jobs Richard Bruton has retracted the remarks he made suggesting the Government would run a Fiscal Treaty referendum for a second time if voters reject it.

The Minister for Jobs Richard Bruton has retracted the remarks he made suggesting the Government would run a Fiscal Treaty referendum for a second time if voters reject it.

The Minister said he had made a mistake when he made the comments.

Earlier this afternoon, Minister Bruton said delaying the referendum would put Ireland in the same category as Greece.

Opponents to the treaty have said the only way to delay ratification is to vote 'No'.
