Gardaí: Kerry fire deaths not being treated as suspicious

The Garda superintendent investigating the deaths of a father and daughter in a fire in Kerry has said that the tragedy is not being treated as suspicious.

Five-year-old Nadine O'Brien and her father Anthony died after a blaze broke out at their home in Tralee in the early hours of last Saturday morning.

No one is being questioned by gardaí in relation to the incident.

Superintendent Jim O'Connor said witness statements have been taken and gardaí are carrying out door-to-door enquiries.

He said an examination of the scene has been completed and forensic results have been sent to Dublin for analysis.

Superintendent O'Connor also told Radio Kerry that rumours surrounding the deaths of Anthony and Nadine O'Brien are unhelpful.
