Families of children with disabilities to raise issue of allowances
Parents from the Domiciliary Care Allowance warrior group will travel to the Dáil this week to once again raise the issue of allowances for the families of children with disabilities.
The same group held a large protest in Dublin recently.
They have this time garnered support from the Dáil Technical Group in their fight to secure payments from the Government.
Independent TD Catherine Murphy is part of the Dáil Technical Group who are launching a motion to secure the domiciliary care allowance for families in need.
Ms Murphy said: "The evidence is mounting now - that there is a particular group of carers and children being targeted, and they're children that are on the autism spectrum.
"I've come across parents who will tell me the circumstances of their daily lives, and it's quite obvious that the care needs of the children they're looking after are way and above what would be expected if the child didn't have that disability."
