Two Peat's stores to reopen today

Peat's World of Electronics is today re-opening two of its stores on Parnell Street and Rathmines in Dublin.

The company went into liquidation less than a month ago and began the process of closing its 11 stores, with the loss of 75 jobs.

But today, up to 37 of those jobs have been saved, and the firm is reopening with a bumper sale for customers.

Earlier this week, Peat's secured High Court protection after it presented a petition seeking an examiner.

Chairman Ben Peat said they have decided to give the firm another go.

"We took a decision at the beginning of the month to go into liquidation, closing everything," he said.

"But between the time of announcing it and actually going into liquidation we had a rethink about the whole situation.

"We came up with a scheme of arrangement that we could implement through administration."
