Kilkenny school principal welcomes decision to quash dismissal
The school principal at Kilkenny City VEC has welcomed a High Court ruling that will quash a decision by the Minister for Education to dismiss her from her post.
Catherine McSorley was declared "unfit for office" after an investigation made findings against her over the school's funding.
She was exonerated over alleged failures in school discipline and bullying.
The court ruled the decision to dismiss her was manifestly disproportionate and related to events that occurred around a decade ago.
Catherine McSorley said: "It has been very stressful. It has been going on so long and I'm a little bit emotional today that there's some finality."
She thanked her friends, family, legal team, staff of the school and parents for their support.
