Gardaí link two assaults on women in Dublin

Gardaí have released CCTV footage of a man they are looking to trace in connection with two violent assaults on women in Dublin.

Officers say the attacks, which took place in Clondalkin and the city centre, were carried out in the early hours of the morning on young women walking alone.

The first victim was attacked and sexually assaulted when she was followed into her apartment complex on Aaron Quay, in September of 2010.

A year later, a 19-year-old girl was punched and choked before fighting off her attacker, who she described as having a non-Irish accent.

Officers have released CCTV images of a man they are looking to trace in connection with the attacks, which happened late at night, as the women walked home.

Gardaí are liasing with Interpol and foreign communities in Ireland to try and trace the man.

Officers insist it would be speculation to link these two incidents with any other sex attacks, but they are advising women, where possible, not to walk alone at night.
