Young boy killed in single vehicle collision

A 6 year old boy has been killed in a single vehicle road collision in Limerick this evening.

A 6 year old boy has been killed in a single vehicle road collision in Limerick this evening.

The boy - who was a pedestrian - was fatally injured when he was struck by a car at Farnane in Murroe at approximately 5pm.

The road is closed tonight pending a forensic examination and Gardai are appealing for witnesses to come forward.

The boy's body has been taken to the Mid Western Regional hospital for a post-mortem examination.
