A post mortem is due to be carried out on the body of a 30-year-old Polish man who died after he was stabbed in Tullamore, Co Offaly today.

A post mortem is due to be carried out on the body of a 30-year-old Polish man who died after he was stabbed in Tullamore, Co Offaly today.

A second Polish man, also in his 30s, has been released from the Midland Regional Hospital, where he was being treated for non life-threatening injuries, sustained during the same attack.

Gardaí will speak to him later today as part of their investigation.

The victim died as a result of stab wounds to his upper torso, which he received at 128 Kilbride Street at about 7am this morning.

The scene and a nearby car have been sealed off for a forensic examination.
