Taoiseach hints at renegotiation of promissory note

There are further indications today that a deal could be done to renegotiate the debt of the former Anglo Irish Bank.

A €3.1bn payment is due by the weekend, but is likely to be replaced by a long-term Government bond.

The Central Bank Governor Patrick Honohan has said he is "hopeful" of a successful renegotiation.
