Two people have been killed and two seriously injured in a road crash in Co Tipperary.

The two-vehicle crash happened at around 10.40pm last night, about a mile on the Cahir side of Bansha on the N24.

Gardaí said the driver of one of the vehicles, a woman aged in her 20s, was fatally injured. Her passengers, two males aged in their late teens and early 20s, were taken by ambulance to Clonmel Hospital. They are said to be in a serious but stable condition.

The driver of the second vehicle, a male aged in his late teens, was also fatally injured.

The road has been closed in both directions at the scene, to allow forensic investigators carry out a full technical examination.

Gardaí said some traffic disruption can be expected there this morning.
