Flynn resigns from Fianna Fáil

Former EU Commissioner Padraig Flynn has today resigned from Fianna Fáil, following the findings of the Mahon Tribunal.

The party has confirmed they received a letter from the former cabinet Minister today.

The announcement comes after a similar move by Bertie Ahern on Saturday night.

Another letter of resignation from Councillor John Hannon has also been received.

The Fianna Fáil National Executive meeting, due to take place this Friday, will go ahead as planned to allow for votes on the motions to expel former councillors GV Wright, Finbar Hanrahan and Don Lydon from the party.
