The Minister for Social Protection says the Mahon report suggests we need to toughen up the code of ethics for people who hold public office.

The Minister for Social Protection says the Mahon report suggests we need to toughen up the code of ethics for people who hold public office.

She says it's vital that politicians' decisions are not contaminated by decision-making which is for vested business interests.

Speaking on the North West Today programme on Ocean Fm, following the findings of the Mahon Tribunal yesterday - Minister Burton says the government will have to sit down and go through the recommendations:

"I think politics and business simply don't mix, I think both should be respectful of each other"
