Murder probe after death of man in Cavan

Gardaí were today continuing a murder investigation following the death of a man in Co Cavan.

A post-mortem was carried out on the body of the 22-year-old who died yesterday morning.

Gardai confirmed he died as a result of an assault.

An incident occurred in the early hours of Sunday morning at a house in the Rose Hill area of Mullagh.

The man was taken to Cavan General Hospital and later transferred to Beaumont Hospital, where he died.
