The Donegal man who escaped from a prison in Co Cavan on Thursday night has appeared before Derry magistrates court today.

Twenty-six-year-old Martin McDermott from Raphoe was sentenced last July for seven years for the manslaughter of Garda Gary McLoughlin in 2009.
