Priory Hall residents protest outside Government Buildings

Around 20 residents from the Priory Hall apartment block in Dublin are protesting outside Government Buildings this morning.

They are demanding a meeting with the Taoiseach to discuss their situation.

Most of the residents are living in temporary accommodation, after they had to be removed from their homes because they failed to meet fire safety regulations.

Spokesperson for the group, Graham Usher, said that the Government needs to take responsibility for the state's failings in the matter.

"We've been trying to get a meeting with the Minister of the Taoiseach to discuss Priory Hall for five months now, and they've refused," he said.

"So what we've decided to do is to come out ourselves before work and try to get the Taoiseach on his way into work and see if he can spare a few minutes to have a conversation with some of his constituents.

"We want to know what's going on - whether the Government is going to hang us out to dry here or whether they're going to take responsibility for the State failures regarding Priory Hall."
