The bodies of two men, believed to have been shot dead, were discovered inside a burning car at Ravensdale Forest outside Dundalk on Wednesday night.

DNA testing and dental records have been used to try and identify the men, but it could take up to a week before a formal identification will be made.

The victims are believed to be 25-year-old Joseph Redmond and 31-year-old Anthony Burnett from Ballybough in Dublin.

Anyone with information in relation to this investigation is asked to contact Dundalk Garda Station.
