Injury claim compensation total up 22% in 2011

A total of 9,833 personal injury cases were successful in 2011, amounting to €209.8m in compensation payouts, an increase of 22% compared to 2010.

Figures published today from InjuriesBoard.ie also showed that more than 76% of awards related to road accidents.

The highest award was €829,444, while the average amount received was just €21,339.

County Limerick had the largest number of awards, while Co Kilkenny had the lowest.
