Banking-division boss Moran appointed Dept of Finance head

The owner of a French juice bar has been appointed secretary general of the Department of Finance.

John Moran replaces Kevin Cardiff who has been appointed to the European Court of Auditors.

Mr Moran heads of the banking division in the Department of Finance. He is also the owner and proprieter of the JusSu juice bar in the French village of Cordes Sur Ciel.

It is understood a number of candidates from overseas who were interviewed for the job pulled out because of the €200,000 salary cap.
