Dillon: Whoever paid my fine no friend of mine
Former IFA president John Dillon has said that whoever paid a fine on his behalf - allowing him to be released from jail - is no friend of his.
Mr Dillon was jailed this morning for failing to pay a €200 fine for putting up electronic display signs contrary to planning laws during last year's general election in which he stood as an Independent.
Mr Dillon, who was IFA president from 2002 to 2006, was also facing legal costs of €2,000.
Following his two-and-a-half hour stint in jail, John Dillon said neither he nor his supporters, had paid the fine:
"I paid no fine. No one in my family paid the fine and any(one) who came to me that wanted to pay the fine, I told them no fine was to be paid.
"Anyone that (would) pay the fine is actually doing an injustice to me and they're not my friend."
