Wildlife Trust welcomes investigation into seal shootings

The Irish Wildlife Trust (IWT) has today welcomed a Garda investigation into the shooting of seals off the Waterford Coast last month.

Post mortems carried out on two of the four injured seals found along a five-kilometre area of beach within days of each other, confirmed that they had been shot.

Seals are a protected species under national and European legislation.

The IWT is calling on members of the public to report any information they may have on the incident to Tramore Gardaí.
