Man held following Down stabbing

A man is recovering in hospital after being repeatedly stabbed in the North.

The 20-year-old was attacked last night at Burrendale Park Road, in Newcastle, Co Down.

Police said he was stabbed at least three times with what is believed to be a knife, at around 10.50pm.

The victim was taken to hospital, where his injuries are not thought to be life-threatening.

Several hours later a 26-year-old man was arrested in connection with the incident.

Detectives in Downpatrick have appealed for information.
