Man arrested after slash hooks fight at confirmation

A man has been arrested after an incident involving slash hooks at a confirmation in Co. Mayo.

Up to 600 people, including 90 children, were attending the ceremony in Ballinrobe when a confrontation broke out between a number of men.

The group chased one of the mass-goers out of St Mary's Church before armed Gardaí arrived.

It is understood the incident relates to an ongoing feud involving two local famillies.
