Liberty Hall redevelopment may create 200 construction jobs
It is hoped that more than 200 construction jobs will be created in Dublin thanks to the re-development of Liberty Hall.
Dublin City Council last night granted conditional planning permission for the renovation of the historic building.
Just before Christmas, the trade union SIPTU submitted their proposal for the redevelopment of Liberty Hall.
It proposed that the tower would be 35% higher then the current structure and stand at 22 storeys - 17 for office and meeting room space and five for various public and cultural purposes.
A "sky deck" would provide an unprecedented panoramic view of the city.
Last night, Dublin City Council confirmed that the union has been given the go ahead with 19 conditions attached including a further alignment of the northside of the building, particularly at the upper levels.
Anyone who wishes to make an appeal can lodge their submissions with An Bord Pleanála within the next month.
