Duo to appear in Donegal court in slash hook case

Two men in their 30s are due before Letterkenny District Court tomorrow morning, after another man was seriously injured in an assault on Friday night.

That man is fighting for his life at Letterkenny General Hospital in Donegal after the attack.

Gardaí found the 41-year-old victim of this assault lying on the ground with serious head injuries at Glenard Park in Letterkenny, shortly before midnight on Friday.

His injuries were thought to have been caused by a slash hook.

A second man was also taken to hospital, with less serious injuries, but he later discharged himself.

Two men in their 30s, who were arrested by gardaí the following day, will appear before court tomorrow morning charged in relation to the incident.

They are currently being detained at Letterkenny Garda Station.

It is understood local gardaí, backed by armed members of the regional support unit, recovered a number of weapons during follow-up searches they conducted over the weekend at three houses in the Long Lane area of the town.
