Man pleads guilty to stealing money from building society

A man who stole over €135,000 from a building society is to be sentenced next month at Dublin Circuit Criminal Court.

David Cullen (aged 32) of Tyrconnell Road, Inchicore, pleaded guilty to stealing €8,200 on November 12, 2005 from Irish Life/Permanent TSB at Stephen’s Green in Dublin.

He also pleaded guilty to stealing €16,000 on December 29, 2005 and €14,000 from the same building society on February 8, 2006.

He further pleaded guilty to stealing €17,100 from there on May 8, 2006 and pleaded guilty to making a false entry of €14,000 from an Irish Life/Permanent TSB account to a Focus Ireland account on February 8, 2006 and to making a false withdrawal from the building society on April 17, 2007 of €8,810 in the name of Focus Ireland.

Cullen also pleaded guilty to making a further false withdrawal of €17,100 in the name of Focus Ireland and to making a false withdrawal of €40,118.32 to another account.

The amount of money he admitted stealing totalled €135,328.32.

Judge Martin Nolan remanded Cullen on continuing bail for sentencing next month.
