Dismissed Kilkenny principal takes case to High Court

The principal of a Kilkenny school who was declared "unfit for office" was in the High Court today in an effort to reverse her dismissal by Education Minister Ruairi Quinn.

Catherine McSorley claims the Minister's decision to remove her from her post at Kilkenny City VEC is unjustified and based on a fatally flawed and unsound investigation report.

The investigation was ordered into alleged payments being made to pupils to attend school, and the suggestion Ms McSorely was engaged in bullying.

Her lawyers claim she was exonerated but that the author of the report acted beyond his powers in investigating and finding against her in new matters relating to the school's funding.
