Elderly pedestrian killed in Cavan road accident

Gardaí in Cavan are today investigating a fatal road accident which occurred on the N3 road at Lavey, Stradone at approximately 7.45pm last night.

A male pedestrian in his 60s was seriously injured when he was struck by a car and was taken to Cavan Regional Hospital where he later died as a result of his injuries.

The driver of the car was uninjured.

The road was closed for a time to facilitate an examination by Garda Forensic Collision investigators, and has since reopened.
