Viable device made safe in Dublin

The Army Bomb Disposal team made safe a viable improvised explosive device in Dublin overnight.

The device was discovered near to a community centre in Oldbawn, Tallaght at about 11pm.

No controlled explosion was carried out and the scene was declared safe just before 1am.

The device was removed to a secure military location for further forensic examination.

This is the 28th call-out of a bomb disposal team this year and the 11th viable IED made safe in 2012.
