Man dies following Kilkenny stabbing

A 21-year-old man has died following a stabbing in Kilkenny city, gardaí said.

A 35-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the incident which occurred in the early hours of this morning.

Gardaí said they were called to an apartment in Larchfield Court in the city shortly before 1.30am this morning, where they discovered two men with stab wounds.

Both men were taken to St Luke's hospital where the unnamed 21-year-old subsequently died.

The other man (aged 27) remains in hospital where his injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.

A third man who was in the apartment when gardaí arrived was arrested and taken to Kilkenny Garda Station where he was detained under section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act.
