NUJ welcomes court judgement as 'great day for journalism'

The National Union of Journalists has welcomed today’s High Court dismissal of an appeal from Independent TD Michael Lowry in a defamation case against journalist Sam Smyth.
NUJ Secretary Séamus Dooley said the ruling by High Court President Mr Justice Nicholas Kearns was "a great day for journalism and a vindication of the courageous journalism of Sam Smyth".
The case centred around an article written by the journalist in the Irish Independent and comments he made on TV3.
