Goleen to hold memorial service for Sophie Toscan du Plantier

A memorial service will take place in West Cork this morning to mark the 15th anniversary of the death of Sophie Toscan du Plantier.

The 39-year-old Frenchwoman was beaten to death at her holiday home in Toormore, near Schull on December 22, 1996.

Her parents, Georges and Marguerite Bouniol, aged 87 and 85, will be attending today's mass in Goleen.

No-one has ever been charged with Sophie's murder.

Former journalist Ian Bailey denies any involvement with the killing and he is currently fighting extradition to France, where magistrates are seeking to question him.
