Dublin to see protest against Govt crackdown on internet piracy
A protest take places in Dublin city centre later against Government plans to bring in a statutory instrument amending copyright legislation to crack down on internet piracy.
Minister for Innovation Seán Sherlock has rejected claims that the move mirrors the controversial Stop Online Piracy Act in the US.
However, opponents fear the change could potentially see court orders blocking popular sites such as Google, YouTube and Facebook.
Litigation Solicitor Simon McGarr has said he is also concerned that the legislation has not been properly debated in the Dáil.
