Council members to protest Croke Park changes

SIPTU members of Dun Laoghaire/Rathdown Council are protesting against changes to the Croke Park Agreement today.
Council staff in Dun Laoghaire want the public to be aware that the quality of their services will suffer if workers aren't protected.
This afternoon, they will march from the People's Park in Dun Laoghaire to the town hall to show their anger.
SIPTU's Conor O'Gorman says the people out protesting today provide an important service to the community.
"These are the front-line staff of the local authority," Mr O'Gorman said.
"These are the people who grit the roads in the winter, these are the people who keep the water flowing, the ones who clean the streets, who provide housing in the community.
"It's some of the most basic roles that people take for granted, but they provide a very important service to the community and they want to be able to continue to do so."
