Dáil protest against education cuts

Hundreds of teachers, students and community activists are protesting outside Leinster House this evening over cuts to the education sector.

The demonstration has been organised by small school communities all over Ireland, and is being held in tandem with an opposition motion in the Dáil calling for the cuts announced in the budget to be reversed.

The INTO President is to address the crowd - the union says the cuts will result in the loss of a teacher in up to 100 small schools next September.

Road restrictions are in place in the area until about 9.30pm.
