Gardaí appeal for witnesses to collision involving Garda vehicle

Gardaí in Limerick are looking for witnesses to a collision involving a Garda 4x4 and a car last Saturday.

The accident happened shortly before 11pm on Saturday evening at Barrigone, Foynes, Co Limerick, when a white Garda Toyota Landcruiser, travelling towards Foynes, and a red VW Passat, travelling in the opposite direction, were in collision.

Three male gardaí and two occupants of the Passat were taken to the Mid Western Regional Hospital. They have since been released.

A Garda Ombudsman investigation has been launched.

Gardaí want to speak to anyone who saw the accident, particularly anybody who may have noticed a red VW Passat in the area prior to the collision.
