A 44-year-old man has been charged with the murder of Ger McMahon in Limerick.

A 44-year-old man has been charged with the murder of Ger McMahon in Limerick.

Mr McMahon died on January 18 after he received multiple stab wounds.

Paul Colbert, of Lenihan Avenue, Prospect, Limerick, was charged with the killing before a special sitting of Limerick District Court this afternoon.

Mr Colbert was remanded in custody to appear in court again next Tuesday.

The accused's 26-year-old nephew Sean Flanagan, also of Lenihan Avenue, Prospect, was charged with Mr McMahon's murder on Friday.

Mr Flanagan's 22-year-old brother Ian Flanagan, also of Lenihan Avenue, Prospect, has been charged with impeding the murder investigation.
