A man is in a serious condition in hospital this morning, after being shot a number of times in the Hartstown area of Dublin yesterday evening.

A man is in a serious condition in hospital this morning, after being shot a number of times in the Hartstown area of Dublin yesterday evening.

Gardaí have launched an investigation and are now trying to find the lone gunman who carried out this attack.

At around 6.50pm yesterday evening, a man in his 30s, who was the front-seat passenger in a car, was shot up to six times, by a lone gunman, as the vehicle left the driveway of a house on Cherryfield View.

He was rushed to Connolly Memorial Hospital, where he is now in a serious condition.

The driver of the car was uninjured in the attack.

It is understood the lone gunman made his getaway on foot, in the direction of Portersgate.

Gardaí are still trying to establish a possible motive for this shooting
