Protesters oppose charge on septic tanks
More than 200 protesters from the west of Ireland staged a demonstration outside the Dáil today in opposition to the new charge on septic tanks.
Busloads of demonstraters from Connemara were addressed by Opposition TDs, who described the new registration charge as an attack on rural Ireland.
Legislation to introduce the charge is beginning its final passage through the Dáil.
Independent TD Michael Healy-Rae called on protesters to make their concerns known to their local Government TD.
