Test developed in NUI Maynooth predicts chances of breaking drug addiction

A new psychological test has been developed which predicts the chances of success for a cocaine addict who is trying to break the habit.
It was invented by the Department of Psychology at NUI Maynooth in County Kildare.
In a study of 25 people who were dependent on cocaine, the IRAP test correctly predicted which of the group was likely to turn up for treatment and if they did, whether their system would be free of the drug.
Details are being published in the American Journal of Drug and Alcohol Abuse.
