A man has been taken to hospital after a fire broke out at an apartment in County Mayo.

A man has been taken to hospital after a fire broke out at an apartment in County Mayo.

The alarm was raised in Belmullet at about 2am this morning and the 24-year-old man was taken to Castlebar General Hospital for treatment.

The scene of the fire has been preserved for a technical examination.
