SIPTU agrees deal over cleaning staff at Mayo hospitals

The trade union SIPTU has reached agreement with the Health Service Executive over the provision of cleaning services at two hospitals in Mayo.

The deal will see cleaning work currently carried out by support staff at Mayo General Hospital, Castlebar, and Ballina District Hospital - who are due to retire next month - taken over by home helps rather than private contractors.
