Ryan: 'Leaky' Govt rows in public 'not clever'

Former Government Minister Eamon Ryan has criticised the Government for being too "leaky".

The leader of the Green Party has said internal party rows are splashed about the newspapers on a weekly basis.

It follows reports of disagreements between the Coalition partners on a number of issues including education cutbacks and new bankruptcy laws.

Mr Ryan said it is a poor strategy.

He said: "Within the Labour Party apparently you have Pat Rabbitte fighting with Ruairi Quinn over the education cutbacks and now you have Alan Shatter fighting with Michael Noonan and Joan Burton fighting with just about everyone.

"You do it behind the scenes. Going straight to the Sunday papers as a means of making your case, I am not sure if that is a clever long-term play for the Government parties in general."
