Community Employment scheme set to close in Wicklow

A Co. Wicklow Community Employment scheme is facing closure - with the loss of 23 jobs - due to funding cuts.

The Department of Social Protection has cut its funding by 66% since January 1.

It is claimed the loss of the National Disabled Angling Park scheme would impact severly on local tourism amenities.

Management have said they do not have the money to keep going and is asking the Government to intervene.
