Probe into car chase man's bridge jump
Gardaí in Cork have launched an investigation after a man had a lucky escape when, after crashing a stolen car, he jumped off a bridge onto a railway line into the path of an oncoming train.
The drama began when the 40-year-old Cork man stole a car on MacCurtain St in the city yesterday evening at around 5.30pm.
At the Skew Bridge in Tivoli the man crashed into an oncoming car with two people inside.
The driver of the stolen car then jumped over the railway bridge, falling 30 feet and breaking his leg.
An oncoming train managed to stop in time and the man was removed by ambulance to hospital where gardaí hope to interview him today.
