Mullingar assault victim to be laid to rest

A 20-year-old man who died after being assaulted just two days before Christmas will be laid to rest today.

Andrew Dolan lost his fight for life on Sunday, after being assaulted in Mullingar in the early hours of December 23.

Mr Dolan was at a friend's 21st birthday party in the town when he was attacked.

He was moved to Beaumont Hospital, but died from his injuries on Sunday night.

Investigating officers have questioned three people in connection with the attack and files are being prepared for the DPP.

Later today family and friends of Leitrim man will gather to bid him a final farewell.

Mr Dolan will be laid to rest in Boyle this afternoon, after funeral mass at St Mary's Church in Carrick on Shannon.
