ESB restores power to storm-hit houses

The ESB has said power has been restored to all households affected by the stormy weather this week.

However, it said there may be some outages for a time today in places.

Eircom crews are working to repair around 5,000 faults - with Mayo, Galway, Sligo and Donegal the worst affected areas.

Meanwhile, Met Eireann has said there will be more high winds tonight - with gusts of between 100 and 120 kilometres per hour in exposed parts of Connacht and west Ulster.

However, forecaster John Eagleton said it is unlikely there will be a repeat of the damage caused on Monday night.
