Vita Cortex families to stage lunchtime protest
Families of Vita Cortex workers staging a sit-in over redundancy entitlements will gather at the factory in Cork at lunchtime today in a solidarity protest.
Thirty-two people have been occupying the foam-packaging plant in Ballyphehane since mid-December.
The workers have described as insulting a Vita Cortex redundancy offer of €1,500 each, along with two weeks' wages.
SIPTU is planning to mount a series of protest later this week on behalf of the workers.
Trade union organiser Anne Egar said the company had an obligation to pay its bills.
"SIPTU's protests will continue until these workers' demands are met," she said.
