Man dies following Mullingar attack

A man who was seriously assaulted in Westmeath on the 23rd of December, has died in hospital from his injuries.

20-year old Andrew Dolan from Carrick-on-Shannon, was badly injured in the incident which happened on Pearse Street in Mullingar at 2.40am.

He passed away this evening at Beaumont Hospital in Dublin.

Gardaí are continuing to appeal for witnesses who may have been in the area on December 23rd between 2am and 3am to come forward.

They are also asking anyone with any information about the assault to contact Mullingar Garda Station on 044-9384000.
