Man 'with shotgun' arrested in Belfast shopping centre

A man allegedly armed with a shotgun has been arrested in a busy Belfast shopping centre.

A man allegedly armed with a shotgun has been arrested in a busy Belfast shopping centre.

The 22-year-old was taken into custody at the Castle Court centre in the city centre around 2.30pm.

The suspected firearm was recovered by police from the scene at Debenhams department store.

The man has been taken to the police’s custody suite at Musgrave Street in the city for questioning.

It is understood officers drew Tasers during the arrest operation but did not discharge them.

Police said the Police Ombudsman had been informed of the incident in line with normal procedures.
