Gardaí continue investigation into fatal Cork row

Gardaí are continuing their investigation into the death of a 51-year-old man in Cork yesterday.

Gerard Delaney from Mahon died after a fight erupted at a pub in Ballyphehane in the early hours of Tuesday morning.

A post mortem revealed he died as a result of injuries sustained in the incident.

Last night, Gardaí released a statement saying the postmortem on the remains of Mr Delaney showed that he died from a combination of head trauma and stab wounds.

It followed a bar brawl at the Manhattan pub on Lower Friars Walk in Ballyphehane in the early hours of Tuesday morning.

The argument is thought to be related to an ongoing feud between two families on the South side of Cork City.

Mr Delaney was fatally injured during the fight which happened after he and a number of his associates went to confront the other faction.

Gardaí investigating the death of Mr Delaney recovered a number of baseball bats and pickaxe handles at the scene of the fight.

No arrests have yet been made.
